CNG is very different from LPG - see this thread.Nigelmorley wrote:Hi desperatley need advice recently brought iveco van from auctions thinking it was lpg but no its cng there are 6 tanks underneath van. can i use these tanks for lpg i have had the van running on lpg from a bottle.
You'd be best starting a new thread in the general discussion forum.plans are to convert this van to camper does any know any thing about under slung lpg tank to run cooker etc

Yes you can run the hotel loads off an LPG tank underneath. The main differences are that you need a vapour takeoff (and suitable pressure regulator) and no electric shutoff as you'll be needing to use the gas for extended periods without flattening the battery. You can buy cylinders specially made for this - but they are very pricey. IIRC there was a thread about adapting a standard tank on this board not that long ago.
If the rest of the vehicle is LPG as well, there's no reason not to just common up the filler pipes - the only downside is that you'll be using gas with higher VAT and Road Fuel Duty paid on it, but it's still probably cheaper than cylinders (especially small cylinders).

Old thread I know, but did you solve your problems. Do you still ahve the CNG van? I'm interested in buying it.
It's a common thing, buying a CNG vehicle thinking it to be LPG. mot have never heard of CNG.
