Think we're on a loser here. Gasbo has clearly made his mind up and would be one of those dickheads if he thought he could get away with it. He probably won't accept that mandatory insurance was brought in because experience showed that too many people were happy to drive around without the means of settling any claims when they had accidents. And I don't expect he's any less selective in his belief in his own invulnerability.

That's right, after all you don't have to insure boats and they never have any accidents at all ....

Not yet at any rate. In all other EU countries there is compulsory third party insurance and licensing to drive anything over 10hp (which is why Honda sell thousands of 9.9hp outboards in Europe). A holder of a UK power boat certificate can obtain an International Certificate of Competence which is accepted in EU countries as the equivalent to a licence. Mine covers me for inland and offshore power boats up to 26m in length and with any engine size. A bit generous considering I did my powerboat handling course in a 16 foot RIB!

Please do, we could do with a few less of the criminal* classes here.
* You've expressed statements that you are happy to lie to get insurance - that's called fraud and is a criminal offence.

Clearly you don't like the laws here, so you do have a simple option - move to somewhere that has laws more to your liking.

its not about being a criminal..its about living in a country that treats its motorists fairly not by exploiting them with over priced fuel and insurance..you simon sound like you work for the insurance industry..so sounds like you have a vested interest in ripping motorists off...now do one

Go easy on him Simon, he's probably very disappointed that nobody was prepared to bid £399 on a high mileage, rotten Maestro van with no MoT. My local scrappy pays £140 a tonne for scrap cars, so he was probably asking around 3 times what it was worth (although he could probably get a tenner each for the rear light lenses from Discovery 1 owners).

and no, neither Simon or I are in the insurance business, we just prefer to abide by the laws of the land.

Funny that, I was just about to ask the exact same question......

Obviously didn't sell it then.
