Re: Doing the LPG conversion; My full report
Along with the LPG system hopefully.......
All this has proved is that you shouldn't play with things you don't understand. Had you known how the car worked in the first place and learnt how the LPG system worked, you might have succeeded.
No doubt now though you'll tell everyone that you had to scrap the car because of the LPG system, not the fact that you buggered it up because you didn't know what you were doing.

Gilbertd wrote:It won't. Why not do what everyone else does? Take the manifold off, drill it, tap it and fit the nipples. Then put it back on and connect it to your injectors with the flexible low pressure LPG hose that Tinley Tech will by then have supplied you with?Toolless wrote:Also
After I have sorted the above I'm going to start drilling on my inlet manifold of my engine for my screws to go into from the gas lpg
And was wondering how you think my engine would run with 4 x 5mm holes in my inlet manifold for a few days until I get them threaded
Re: Doing the LPG conversion; My full report
why did you replace the plate and rail?Toolless wrote:After replacing the inlet manifold sanwitch plate and injector rail and new gasket

new gasgets would have been all that was required

Pot calling kettle black I think !!!Toolless wrote:Fcuk you ya prick
You know after reading this thread, I think it SHOULD be made a sticky, simply because it may deter anyone who hasnt the slightest idea of how an engine is put together, not to meddle with lpg !!! the amount of time and money wasted in this project only to just bin it because someone with a set of spanners thinks they can successfully install an lpg system is incredible, cant even repair and replace an inlet manifold even though it wasnt busted !!! and would have been cheaper and less time consuming to have a pro install a new system, cost of outlay would have begun to be recouped already.
Re: Doing the LPG conversion; My full report
You couldn't make this story up could you. I didn't think people like this existed. I'm an engineer and researched before installing my system. The time seems well spent as I now have a system that works better than I expected. Maybe the advantage is that I ( like Gilbertd and others ) know the differance between a spanner ( scouse sarcasm. Toolless comes across as a bit of a spanner) and a tool for tightening nuts and bolts.

Re: Doing the LPG conversion; My full report
I found this thread by accident but so glad I did. I have not laughed so much since reading about scam baiters winding up Nigerian 419 scammers. I don't know if I should admire Toolless for his sheer determination to do this conversion against all the odds stacked up against him, most of which would have easily been overcome if he had followed the advise he asked for and been given instead of persisting in doing things his way, or criticise him for even thinking of fitting such a potentially dangerous system with such little of the knowledge and aptitude needed. Even if it is a wind up it should be a sticky for the entertainment value. It's a pity he never finished the project but I expect his Escort would have oxidised to dust long before it ever ran on lpg. As I also live in Carlisle and could have ended up being a victim of this mobile bomb then maybe it is a blessing in disguise. Good luck Toolless with your future projects but if they involve lpg then please get someone competent to help you as a car full of gas is a lot more dangerous than you appear to think it is.
Re: Doing the LPG conversion; My full report
This thread is a wake up call and should be a sticky!
Ive ran lpg for over ten years, taken it off refitted, but today i do i fresh install on a carb v8 engine. He really believed hecould fot this, and boy how he was wrong,But what if ive convinced myself i can do it and i cannot?
So ive ran through the basic in my head again as a checklist,
Tank over rear axle as much as possible (common sense) and airbox to be positioned about 2 oclock.
6mm pipe to be clipped every 500mm,and at least 100mm away from exhaust or anything that moves.
T pieces put between heater hoses for flow to inline the vapouriser
Coil pipe as approaches filter soleniod
Fuse every soleniod,
Check with washing up liquid for leaks before switch on and during swirch on.
Timing 6 degress retard..
ThaT sounds right????...........................doesnt it ????????????

Re: Doing the LPG conversion; My full report
I'm almost glad this threads been resurrected. Some forums have a post of the week or post of the month section for the ones that shouldn't be forgotten (even if only to give everyone a good laugh), this one really does deserve a post of the Century award.......

I bet your the king of ass hole that trolls the net all day long criticizing everyone ells for making an effort like myself coz you have nothing better to do with your time/ life because you are jellios of thoughts that put the hard work in to get a resalt
hypocrite!
Now that the Mupits are out of the way its back to business
The tractor shop only had 3 nipples so the 4th I will have to use one of the 2 remaining unbroken nipples
My original gasket tore up and at first I did not think it was that important to have one
And now it probaly blown off with the wind to Africa or some where
I still have an air leek and I think its from the inlet manifold even after I added the blue tube
So Looks like a new gasket is in order
Only problem is the car shop in town cant get hold of one and the ford deals want 30.00 quid plus vat
Graham said he once made a gasket out of a corn flake box and it did the job
But I want a second opinion on it?
Am I right in thinking that this is the same for having the injector too far away from the inlet manifold jets
That it will run like a bagh of shit if the injectors are not close enough to the jets
