The Environmental Case <BR> <BR>The environmental case for LPG/autogas as a transport fuel is now well proven and documented. Damian, <BR> <BR>in conjunction with the new petition to the Prime Minister, may I just drop in some comments that may add weight to our case? <BR> <BR>I say this - <BR> <BR>The Government are considering an increase to the taxes applied to vehicles which produce the most pollution as an environmental protection measure. <BR> <BR>I hope this will result in an even handed approach. In that same spirit, vehicles that produce less emissions should pay less tax than they do now. <BR> <BR>LPG powered vehicles of any type, if correctly converted and maintained, consistently produce a lot less pollution by emission and should therefore attract less taxation than they currently do. <BR> <BR>The proposed increase in taxation of Petrol and Diesel vehicles makes a very good case for the <b><i>reduction of LPG vehicle taxation.</i></b> <BR> <BR>Regards <BR> <BR>Steve <BR> <BR><a href="http://www.go-lpg.co.uk" target=_top>www.go-lpg.co.uk</a>

Very well said Steve, many end-users (including myself) who have converted fully at their own expense (i.e. without any grant) are penalised for being a good environmetal citizen. Sure, we benefit from fuel-cost saving, but the spirit of things is not reflected in taxation.

I think its a bit harsh to say you are 'penalised' - you will pay back your investment within 2-3 years probably, then will be on roughly half-price fuel, so where's the penalty? Much better than most after-market mods!
