Re: What's a Good Car to Convert

That'll be the wife then (driving briskly that is) She thinks that you just put your foot to the same position for all cars :D A 4.4 V8 will scare her

I'll be on the Trader for the next few days :D

Re: What's a Good Car to Convert

Hi Tubbs

Is 22-25mpg on a run driving like a granny :D Mind you that's the equivalent of 51-58 at 58p a litre. Sounds good :D
Anybody want to buy a 58 plate 2.2 Titanium X Mondeo

Are they fussy what kit you put on?

Re: What's a Good Car to Convert

Ta Guys Quite fancy a 4.4 5 series Touring. What MPG on gas am I looking at? Had a couple of V8 BM's in the past. Had a lovely E34 3 litre V8. One of the most relaxed cars to drive I've had. Went to diesels after that but always wanted the 4.4. Where do you put the tank in a Touring? What's a good k...

What's a Good Car to Convert

Hi Chaps Now I've got the Shogun running acceptably I've started thinking of getting rid of my Mk4 2.2 diesel Mondeo and gassing a nice petrol car. Getting a bit fed up of changing the oil and regenerating the DPF, the wife does a lot of short journeys. What's good car to go with, preferably a V8. B...

Re: The Dark Art of Mapping

Hi tubbs Yes it's pre k line. I have got the lambda connected and at the moment looking at the logged data it's swinging merrily from zero-ish to one-day ish. To be honest it is running fine but I can't help messing to get it dead right. Do you have to map every point or can you do several across th...

The Dark Art of Mapping

Think I have finally got the old bus running something like. Now I thought I'd have a go at mapping the LPG, easy it is not!! Been for a run tonight with the logging function enabled thinking if I keep a constant throttle and vary the load and RPM and switch from gas to petrol I would get an idea wh...

Re: Can only get 42Litres of Gas in

I am a NUMPTY confirmed :D Better read the instructions better next time Removed the LPG tank and turned it around. Filled it up from empty today and got 56 litres in (32 quid :D ), which is about right for a 68 litre tank give or take a bit. Replaced the feed pipe to the reducer and it seems ok. I ...

Re: Can only get 42Litres of Gas in

Morning All I'm getting confused now(doesn't take much at my age :D ) between flange angles and centreline angles. Is the picture below correct? I think I'm going to have to drop the tank and turn it around to get the right angle. I can't rotate the tank as it hits the small petrol tank. Can I put a...

Re: Can only get 42Litres of Gas in

Found the problem. It's me I'm a numpty :( Read the installation instructions with the multi-valve and what I took to be vertical was in fact horizontal. My valve is 60 degrees from horizontal oops. What confused me was that I had the pickup pipe vertical and it appears it's at an angle in the tank.

Re: Can only get 42Litres of Gas in

I think it's at 30 degrees give or take a couple of degrees. How crucial is the setting?
I have a digital level I'll check. Does the mounting flange have to be 30 degrees from vertical?

Can only get 42Litres of Gas in

Evening All Nearly got the old Shogun running properly so I thought I'd start sorting out the other issues. Tank is a360 mm dia Irene 68 litre tank with an OMB 30degree multivalve. I initially only put 10 quids (14 litres) worth of gas in to check for leaks then put another 40 litres before the pump...

Re: Engine management Light Shogun

Morning Gents

Sussed it :D

It was the resistor values in the Gas ECU. Changed from 150 ohm to 82 but it still did it. 56 ohm did the trick, no more light.

On second thoughts wouldn't that give me an ECU error when on petrol?

Re: Engine management Light Shogun

Hi rossko I've saved that link as a favourite it could be the problem. I've already swapped out the TPS earlier today because of a slightly out of spec reading but I haven't checked it back at the ECU. I've set the TPS up at the throttle body and it is right and in spec. I'll see if I can steal anot...

Re: Engine management Light Shogun

Make that 150ohm. I read the colour codes wrong.

Perhaps I will drop it to 100ohm and see what happens. Lengthening the petrol injector pulse didn't work, perhaps took a little longer before the ecu flagged a fault.

Re: Engine management Light Shogun

Evening All Spent all day checking this pile of scrap out :( All the injector cuts are ok. I checked all the wiring back to the petrol ecu and it checks out fine. Put an oscilloscope on the petrol ecu injector feeds and they all are the same. The signal is the same on gas as on petrol except for a s...

Re: Engine management Light Shogun

Hi Gilbert

I probably didn't explain that very well. I meant the petrol injector time is 3.3ms when running on petrol and the petrol injector time when running on gas is 3.15ms.
