Re: lead pellets in tank?

Brought up around cars and all things mechanical, I'll freely admit that only puts me by home-mechanic standards at the more able end of the ability range. Any half-awake pro will run rings round me. It's only in the last 3-4 years that I've come to appreciate how little Joe Public grasps the simple...

Re: Conversion of a Volvo V70 (P80) 1999

Can't say which colour LED worried me too much. However, ahem... Halle 'kin lujah! This thing finds its Mojo. One working AEB510 TAP running Version 08 Volvo specific firmware, and it's a different car. Whilst still driveable this Volvo P80 was gutless and plodding, yet would get along OKish. I wasn...

Re: LPG petition

In short LPG will always be available. What looks likely is the drip-drip reduction of the filling-stations we are used to. Like anything else, nothing much lasts after the money runs out... However, LPG heating/ commercial applications and leisure use are not going anywhere soon. In so many applica...

Re: Conversion of a Volvo V70 (P80) 1999

I'm convinced it's a DG7. My boy spent ages palying with its many colour combinations to get it to do this that and the other under various conditions, and match car interior lighting. Actual fuel-level display with bloody AEB 'change-with-the-wind' format CNG sensor/gauges i'm sure is possible, but...

Re: Conversion of a Volvo V70 (P80) 1999

Ah, now I see where you're coming from. Running either fuel sees both factory gauges display regardless of which fuel runs. But the rootof your question is still not mis-directed. Now I come to think of it, when i used to run gas (under the Necam system) I'd put a large bet on me seeing the Scangaug...

Re: Conversion of a Volvo V70 (P80) 1999

How did you set it up for the dash gauge to show LPG level when running on LPG? That could be telling... Not sure I grasp the root of your question, here goes anyway: 1. The factory-fit tank had a 300bar sensor feeding the factory gauge, aside from moving it about when I re-plumbed, electrically it...

Re: Conversion of a Volvo V70 (P80) 1999

Thanks Simon. I've just about grasped your point. I *think* it's not running emulation. The AEB bloke that dabbled with it, made a fair improvement. If his tweaks weren't doing 'something' would I have seen real improvement. This I'm not sure. If you're right, I'm not sure what to do about it. I'm g...

Re: lead pellets in tank?

What.png I'm stunned. We're in the wrong business. Some do, yet few call this out... reading the Amazon reviews, this gets a 5 Star rating. I mean, the circular logic used, I'm dumbfounded? The classic-car crowd are particularly taken in. My fav: " No problems so far. 5 Stars. " Let me ha...

Re: LPG petition

The independents selling with core reasons to do so will be the hold-outs. Supply of heating fuel is a very strong one. Your local ASDA will come down to Head Office. They'll look at volumes country-wide and make the decision. Sadly I doubt, the fact there's queues round the block near you will figu...

Re: Conversion of a Volvo V70 (P80) 1999

I'm now looking at 3 x TAP. Two 'truant from school' Chinese AEB510 + 1 x Stag TAP 01. At £20 each I can't say no to hte Chinese TAP. And now I have the firmware kit such that it won't smoke them, these are my first port of call. If I can cure the sluggishness I'm happy. Speaking to Dai, he was not ...

Re: Conversion of a Volvo V70 (P80) 1999

Now back on this, I've left this job 'as is' for 7-8 weeks. Broadly because I was up against the joint brick-walls of 3 x hard to get, b*ggered AEB TAPs and inexperience. The TAPs ruined as a result of the faulty power supply in the AEB Firmware kit, it took me a while to work out what had happened....

Re: LPG petition

I'm sure you're right Brian. Cars are ever more throw-away. In MK you're barely 30 miles north of that sort of thing. Thing is, 10-15 years back, come owner number 2 and 3, luxobarges and the usual 4x4 suspects would be sat ripe for conversion. It'd be easy to find 6-7 year old jags/Mercs on LPG. Wh...

Re: LPG petition

You're correct, we do speak of different worlds... I speak of my own locale. I'm sure in true 'rural' areas, at the opposite end of the South East, thus Devon/ Cornwall/ North of the border etc, the requirement for LPG is greatest. Unfortunately that's a mild confusion, not quite the same thing at a...

Re: Conversion of a Volvo V70 (P80) 1999

Thus so far... [The following, copy and pasted from the Necam thread] Here's a current summary: Currently the car lacks grunt and is not economical.. it's factory-fit Necam wins - for now. If this was LPG, the job would be sorted long since. This is not really a surprise. I'm convinced the issues I ...

Re: What was the Necam Distributor Stepper Motor System all about?

I'll cover the details in the thread, Currently the car lacks grunt and is not economical.. Necam wins - for now. If this was LPG it'd be sorted long since. I'm convinced the issues I see have nothing to do with the KME Nevo or the legacy of the Necam. The prior Necam factory-fit has made things eas...

I've signed - and unlike the rest of you, I do this without using the stuff. Only surely Shirley, and I don't like to cast doubt.. a very large bet says the writing is on the wall. Re: What was the Necam Distributor Stepper Motor System all about?

Thanks for the full answer Simon. Although I've yet to see it on any single-point I've run, I'm sure back-fires do happen. It's not popular to say it, yet I liked Volvo's factory Necam. A Leonardo with one of those anti-blow-back intake tubes still seems attractive. To be fair to KME Nevo - it's not ...

What was the Necam Distributor Stepper Motor System all about?

Until my recent conversion I had a Necam Stepper factory-fit system running on my Volvo. The LPG trade don't seem keen. Always seemed to work, hence i never really questioned it, or found a strong reason to remove it. What in essence was the reason for its distributor? Appears to be not much more th...

These site spammers - what's in it for them?

These site spammers - what's in it for them? I see fair mention on all the forums I visit of problems for the Modmins with spammers and various other nuisances. Thing is... I don't get it. I mean, if in some fit of madness Modmins gave me back-door full access to the forum tool-chest, what would do ...
