Re: injector cleaner

Hi yes still messing around with the Vitara. I thought that I had cured the lean code problem but today she has developed a low speed "stumble" for want of a better word. Once you stick your foot down she runs fine . If it was my old motorbike I would say the pilot jet was gummed up It feels like a ...

Re: running lean P0170

To be honest the pipe did not look to bad..... but it was splayed out at the end like a sea anemone fishing !
And I am not convinced the crimp /spring clip was far enough on to seal the tube onto the injector stub

Re: running lean P0170

Hi Brian thanks for the reply She is running a King Ecu with OMVL Blue? injectors I don't think my scanner is clever enough to isolate individual plug /injectors or to read a lambda And I don't have much of a clue either But she seems to run fine on petrol we had a trip down to Hereford towing a 8x4...

running lean P0170

Hi every one its a long time since I was here but once again I need the wisdom of the forum This week my Grand Vitara threw up a generic P0170 bank 1 lean and lit up the EML . This happened as I was pulling away from a junction and was using more rev's than normal I plugged in my code reader and the...

Miss fire

My Vitara has developed a mid range miss fire and a lumpy tick over that gets worse when warm I have replaced the plugs and coils but she still isn't right If you are gentle with the throttle there is a hesitation /miss if however you are heavy footed it rev's out no missing. Its a bit like a over j...

Re: valve saver fluid usage

Also today I replaced the cap that the lube feed tube passes through, again the thread would not tighten ,
Quick fix, a cap from a T Cut polish bottle fits a treat (and it comes with a hole already it the top)
RESULT!

With today's modern systems is it necessary to have a post installation system check to ensure every thing is
working as it should?

Re: sooty tail pipe

I have reset the valve saver to 8 drops per min as per the suggestions so I will run her round a bit and see if it alters the sooty exhaust. As expected just when you want to get out and grovel round your car its RAINING!!

sooty tail pipe

How can you tell if your motor is running rich?
The exhaust on my Vitara looks sooty is this a mixture thing I never noticed it on my LPG converted Freelander.
Now Tubbs has flown the coop who is nearest to Shropshire that I could get to check her out?

Re: valve saver fluid usage

The cap would not tighten, just as it felt like it had it would click and go over the thread and loosen again ! as I say a cap from a 5 LTR OIL sorted it
The mounting point seems pretty firm (maybe its to much bouncing around the fields slopping the fluid around)

Re: valve saver fluid usage

Thanks for that, I think mine is flowing a bit faster than that but as the cap on the bottle was not seating properly and a mist/film of lube is on the outside of the bottle and parts of the engine bay it is difficult to estimate usage . The cap by the way is the same thread as most plastic 5 ltr oi...

valve saver fluid usage

Bit of a dumb question BUT how fast should the fluid be dripping into the glass/tube "drops per min"on a 2 ltr four cylinder engine (Suzuki Grand Vitara) and how long/ how many miles should you expect a 500ml bottle to last? I know there are many factors that effect the result but a ball park figure...
