Re: King ecu solenoid issues

Reads like the solenoid coil is partially short circuited, decreasing it's resistance so it pulls more amps than it should and makes more heat.. Then maybe when it's hot it goes open circuit or resistance increases and lower amps through fewer coils has less magnetic pull... It shouldn't get too hot...

Re: How do Necam Diaphragm / Mushroom EGI injectors work & why?

Not much more going on than you thought really, they are only one way valves. But just as a point of interest - When I have retrofitted sequential systems in place of the old Koltec continuous injection system I have found that if I tried to pulse inject gas through the one way valves the resulting ...

Re: Leaking BRC injector

I spoke to the installer and he explained that the kit for my car was sent to him by BRC after he supplied them with my engine code/info. Could say it was good practice by the installer to fit components advised by the supplier... But I've said before (other threads) that installers who rely on tha...

Re: How do Necam Diaphragm / Mushroom EGI injectors work & why?

If you've checked one you'll have checked them all, if you found that the odd one was easier to blow through (pressure side to manifold side direction) than others then maybe the relative cylinder gets a bit richer mixture than other cylinders... Other than the above the one way valves won't make mu...

Re: Leaking BRC injector

The BRC MB1200 reducer is probably a bit under-rated in terms of flow (bhp) ability but it should still be fitted with a bigger reducer. Fitting too small rated a reducer shouldn't result in torn diaphragms though, that's usually due to running the reducer too cold or wear/tear. TinleyTech will sell...

Re: Vauxhall Astra koltec

A lot of the Koltec systems don't have the spare grey wire behind the switch (or the yellow/grey wire in the fuse box etc) to earth.. But it is always possible to diagnose most faults the old-skool way using a multi-meter to check: lambda readings (an OBD scanner won't show actual lambda reading if ...

Re: It'll be under 1300cc, yet which car does a 17YO convert to LPG?

When they were 17/18/9 it cost both my son and daughter less to insure a car if they put me on their policy as a named driver. The only reason for putting me on their policies as named driver was to lower their insurance costs, my trade policy covers me to drive their cars fully comp anyway.

Re: It'll be under 1300cc, yet which car does a 17YO convert to LPG?

I dunno... The smallest engine in the Volvo940 is a 2 litre, 3rd party insurance is only about how much damage you can cause to others (external and passengers)... 4 Passengers would fair a lot better in a crash in a V940 than in a city car but you could do a lot more damage to none occupants. Would...

Re: It'll be under 1300cc, yet which car does a 17YO convert to LPG?

My brother has a factory-fit LPG Daihatsu panel van... it's about 800cc. Worth sweet FA, it might be a candidate, but i suspect they'll not let a 17YO insure 'a commercial' for private use. Maybe another thing that differs to 'back then'.. Plenty lads used to run 1.6 Escort vans because the insuran...

Re: It'll be under 1300cc, yet which car does a 17YO convert to LPG?

In the past I've had customers bring brand new little cars (such as 800cc / 1litre VW Fox's) straight from the showroom to me for LPG conversion, less than 100 miles on the odometer. Usually bought to commute in, thinking that's just about the best fuel economy they'd be able to get and they might a...

Re: It'll be under 1300cc, yet which car does a 17YO convert to LPG?

The LPG conversion didn't change cost of insurance in son's case. But I understand the concern - @CNG is installing a different CNG system on his Volvo that was originally/factory converted with a CNG system, where-as CNG converting a small car that wasn't originally CNG converted is different (one ...

Re: King ecu solenoid issues

Hi Brian, the front solenoid was being held open by a relay, with the trigger wires fired from a 12v supply and earth, so totally separate from the lpg ecu. Iyswim Checked the fuse yes, all clean, never checked the plug into the ecu as its tucked right behind the bulkhead, but as stated front solen...

How my son's first car ended up https://www.lpgforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?p=102137#p102137 Things have changed from years ago when we first passed our tests, back then the cheapest way to legally drive was to be be a named driver on a parents policy until we reached maybe 19. It did mean you could dr...

Re: King ecu solenoid issues

Depending on which version of software you're using you may be able to read ECU feed voltage in the 'Display' screen, see if that falls when solenoids and/or gas injectors are in operation.

Re: King ecu solenoid issues

On the solenoids problem... If the (edit external) relay operates it should see the solenoid coil get full 12v so if the relay operates and the solenoid doesn't open there'd be a problem with the solenoid/coil. If the (edit external) relay doesn't operate it could be because of an ECU internal relay...

Re: King ecu solenoid issues

Q1 OK-ish if you do fit a resistor, probably not OK if you don't (at least not without changing ECU temp correction)
Q2 Reckon around 1K but check to make sure this gives gas temp reading of around 50C.

Re: Pipe sizes.

Plenty smaller mixers use 12mm pipe fitting instead of 19mm, sometimes 12mm is the only option for a specific carb fitment mixer, you'd normally just use an adapter but your stepper has an adapter attached. There will be slightly different results in terms of settings depending on length of 19mm pip...

Re: The Temptress

Better economy... but maybe near top bhp too. The AEB175 will only let you set 2 default settings for the stepper motor, one for idle rpm and one for off idle. As you're driving it will steer mixture to 0.5v lambda, except for 4000+rpm (with wot if TPS is connected) where it will aim for around 0.75...
