Re: Cadillac Escalade
Thanks for clarifying the position on the manifolds Simon - i've been looking at a set of OBX stainless manifolds for my Sterling and the original Lambdas are in the cast iron "logs" bolted to the heads with a downpipe flange stuck to the bottom of each log. Just above this flange is a Lam...

Re: Cadillac Escalade
I fixed an install on a Vortec V8 (not Escalade but an old Chevy pickup) the other day, was simply missing the vac signal to map sensor and reducers but also running in limp home mode due to the previous owner fitting stainless exhaust and cocking up the lambdas - on one side of the engine the lamb...

Re: Cadillac Escalade
Well I'm pretty sure my mpg reflects my lead foot as well as the Range Rover I have a 300C getting about 15mpg on LPG. If it isn't a silly question considering the amount of Detroit Iron you have, is that a Chrysler or Nissan 300C? If it's the Nissan and you're only getting 15mpg out of it, you nee...

Re: % vol co2
Hmm, interesting - i did wonder about that and also the EGR, air filter and if it was burning any oil. Regardless of the type of conversion i would think if it was burning oil the CO2 would be fairly high as would the HC figure. As you say though, without knowing the car in question, type of convers...

US miles shorter than ours r u sure lol Well it was when i went to school - having just looked into it it seems the US mile (or at least the one they use most) is in fact a smidge longer than ours now. However, it seems the arrangement for them to use the International Standard based on a metric me...

Re: Cadillac Escalade
A gallon is 8 pints either side of the pond but in America they use 16floz to the pint whereas we use 20floz so their gallons are about 0.8 of ours. There is a very slight difference to this as it is an aproximation, their fluid ounces (floz for those who don't remember old weights and measures) are...

Re: Cadillac Escalade
How much range do you want/need? With a 95L tank (about 72-75L usable) that's about 16 gallons. According to what i found here : http://www.cars.com/cadillac/escalade/2007/standard-equipment/ it should do 13-20mpg round town/open road. Remember those are American gallons though which are about 0.8 o...

As a general rule of thumb, carbon dioxide (CO2) peaks when combustion is at its most efficient. Reducing it would mean that the combustion is much less efficient. Just to be sure, you're not confusing CO (Carbon Monoxide) with CO2 (Carbon dioxide) are you? Carbon Monoxide is lethal in relatively lo...

Re: Leo ECU frying Lambda sensors
Bit of progress on this one! After finding the new, 42mm venturi mixer was too big (went scarily lean above 3000rpm) i bored out the original 32mm mixer (that was going way too rich above 3000rpm) to a smidge under 36mm and refitted it. After a bit of tweaking and twiddling, the default position on ...

Re: sooty tail pipe
It sounds either that it's running very rich or burning oil. Have you checked the PCV system to ensure the PCV valve and hoses aren't blocked and that no other breathers are blocked on the engine? Also check the air filter, although it won't alter the mixture too much if yours is injection, it could...

Re: Not running on LPG
A 12V 11W coil will take about 0.9A so the resistance should be about 13 to 15 ohms. However it's not an exact art with coils so 10 ohms isn't too far from the ball park although a little low. Best way to test it is remove the coil (should be a clip, nut or bolt holding it onto the solenoid post) an...

Re: Wanted Toroidal LPG Tank
I'll get some pics tomorrow Simon - i've been "cyber-marooned" for nearly a week with no internet/phone thanks to a screw up by BT Openwide in the local exchange and only got back into the land of the living today so only just seen your post. I would describe it as an "external" ...

Very interested in one of these, can you get some pics up and are they suitable for a 95 XJ Cherokee?

Re: I want a car!
Just seen this thread, got a 95 Jeep Cherokee 4.0L HO Limited running single point Leo, all MoT bits are working but rear springs are sagging. I have a pair of springs to go on but unable to do them myself now. It's Mot'd until mid October (16th i think), tyres are reasonable to good, comes with 2 s...

I have a 720 diameter x 270 deep single hole full toroidal tank (95L water capacity) with multivalve, located West Suffolk, still half full of gas so about 35L - make me an offer! Will check the date stamp but fairly sure it's in date/under ten years old although i've heard it's now done ona general...

Re: Leo ECU frying Lambda sensors
Finally got to the bottom of this one! THANKFULLY!!! After double checking the pin outs on the Jeep Leo multiplugs and confirming they were the same, i fitted the Jeeps Leo onto the coupé and still got about 0.5V on the purple wire! I disconnected the rear bank Lambda and still had the same s...

Re: Leo ECU frying Lambda sensors
Yes, used the same earth point as the 0V reference point Simon - a convenient earth point on the manifold that has two OE earths running to it. Just to be on the safe side, i rechecked the voltages using several other earth points including the earth for the Leo (which used a spare way in a factory ...

Re: Leo ECU frying Lambda sensors
Thinking about it, the M27 incident was a bit longer ago, near enough 30 years no. A plane over-shot the runway at Eastleigh Airport and dropped onto the M27 between the airport and the Transit plant (as was) one morning. As for the Leo/Lambda problem - the plot thickens! New front Lambda fitted and...
